Runners are used to pain and injury– it comes with the sport.

So, it is very hard for serious runners to understand when they should seek professional help from a PT.

Thankfully, this short checklist should give you an idea of when to seek out a professional to solve your injury.

Long lasting injury

How long have you had this injury? Have you been dealing with pain and compromised running or daily activities such as walking for more than 3 weeks?

If so, you should get treatment from a PT.

Aches and pains in new areas:

Did the first symptoms begin in your knee, and now your hip is starting to bother you?

If so, you should get treatment from a PT.

Painful daily activities

Were you fine climbing/descending hills or stairs, getting up from a chair, riding a bike, driving a car a while ago, but now these activities are bothering you?

If so, you should get treatment from a PT.

Pain and Swelling for days

Do you experience pain in a specific area and swelling that persists 24 hours after a run?

If so, you should get treatment from a PT.
